Spalding woman cleared after fatal Counter Drain Drove crash conspiracy trial

Vanessa Gratton, of West Parade, Spalding, has been cleared of conspiring to assault her former partner, Richard McMullon, in a case linked to the death of Sean Burlton in November 2023. Scott Biggs admitted a late role in the conspiracy after jurors failed to reach a verdict, while several other men have already pleaded guilty to related charges.

Tina Tomblin suffered burns after trying to stop a large straw fire near Barrier Bank, Cowbit, from reaching a nearby car. Four fire crews tackled the blaze, which damaged about 500 metres of stubble field and 600 tonnes of straw bales.

Police appeal after motorcyclist injured in hit-and-run outside Springfields

Lincolnshire Police is appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a car collided with a motorcyclist at the Holbeach Road roundabout outside Springfields in Spalding on Sunday, August 23. The driver failed to stop, and the rider, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening or life-altering.

Spalding man warned he could face prison after 206g cannabis found at The Meadows flat

Thomas Parr, 28, pleaded guilty to possessing 206g of cannabis after police found the drug at his flat in The Meadows, Spalding. Lincoln Crown Court heard the offence breached a 20-month suspended prison sentence imposed in June 2025. Parr has been granted unconditional bail while further reports are prepared ahead of sentencing on September 4.
