Planned sewer repair work connected with the closure of Enterprise Way in Spalding has been delayed after torrential rain flooded the excavation, Anglian Water has said.
The work was due to address an affected section of sewer as part of repairs linked to a sinking section of Pinchbeck road. The source report says that road has been closed since May, meaning the delay affects an issue that has already disrupted residents, businesses and people travelling through the area.
Flooded excavation halted planned work
Anglian Water said the heavy rainfall last week left the excavation flooded. That prevented the company from carrying out the planned sewer repairs when originally intended.
“Following torrential rainfall last week, work to repair the affected section of sewer at Enterprise Way was delayed after the excavation became flooded.”
The company said it has since been watching the condition of the work site and the sewer network while conditions improved. It now says the repair operation is moving forward again under the agreed plan.
Further work planned before reinstatement
According to Anglian Water, further work will take place over the coming days. The remaining programme is expected to include final surveys and reinstatement once the repair work has been completed.
“Since then, we have been closely monitoring the site and sewer network while conditions improved, and are now continuing with the agreed repair plan, with further work taking place over the coming days before final surveys and reinstatement are completed.”
The company has not stated a new date for completion or confirmed when the affected road will reopen in the supplied update. It also does not provide details of diversion routes or specific access arrangements for the closure.
Anglian Water acknowledged the disruption caused by the work and thanked those affected for their patience.
“We understand the disruption this has caused and thank residents, businesses and road users for their patience while this work is completed.”
