Police have searched a property on Holbeach Road in Spalding as part of an ongoing murder investigation linked to the death of 60-year-old Gary Piatek from Leicester.
A police cordon was reportedly placed around a home on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, while officers carried out the search. Leicestershire Police said the work forms part of continuing enquiries into Mr Piatek’s death.
Eight people from Leicester, Bournemouth, Birmingham and London are currently charged in connection with the case. No arrest was made at the Holbeach Road address, according to police.
What police have said about the search
A Leicestershire Police spokesman confirmed officers were at an address in Holbeach Road. The force said the search was connected to ongoing enquiries and that investigators had executed a warrant at a separate house in Broad Avenue, Leicester, in February 2026.
“Police are in attendance at an address in Holbeach Road in Spalding as part of ongoing enquiries into the death of Gary Piatek.
“No-one was arrested at the address.”
Police said the February warrant followed the last proof of life for Mr Piatek in April 2024. The investigation has included extensive searches lasting several weeks, using ground-penetrating radar and groundbreaking equipment.
Gary Piatek has not been found
Despite the searches, Mr Piatek’s body has never been found. Police only publicly named him on February 12, 2026, after previously referring to the investigation without identifying him.
“A warrant was executed at a house in Broad Avenue, Leicester, in February this year. This was following the last proof of life of Mr Piatek in April 2024.
“The investigation included extensive searches carried out over a number of weeks, including ground penetrating radar and groundbreaking equipment.
“Mr Piatek’s body has never been found.”
At the time Mr Piatek was named, a police spokesman said specialist support was being provided to a number of his close friends.
The search in Spalding is therefore part of a wider investigation centred on a man from Leicester who was last known to be alive in April 2024. The information released by police does not state what investigators were looking for at the Holbeach Road property or whether the search has concluded.
