Spalding Grammar School is celebrating a strong set of GCSE results after one in three of the school’s 1,400 entries received one of the top grades, seven to nine.

The results were released on Thursday, August 20, with headteacher Michele Anderson praising pupils for their performance. Twelve students averaged above grade seven across 10 or 11 subjects: Oscar Best, Solomon Brooks, Abhinav Gobukumar, Sai Sreyas Goli, Alfie Keeble, Nipun Neema, Beon Shajil, Ishant Sharma, Sagar Srinivasan, Yulyan Stefanov, Samuel Stockford and Ian Trepka Pereira.

Strong results across core subjects

The school said 53 per cent of students achieved the English Baccalaureate qualification. English results saw 98 per cent of students achieve at least grade four, while 99 per cent reached grade four or higher in mathematics.

Several departments were also singled out for particularly strong outcomes. The school reported that 100 per cent of students achieved above grade five in biology and physics. Other results included 99 per cent at grade five or above in chemistry, 97 per cent in PE, 87 per cent in design technology and 86 per cent in combined science.

In computer science, 82 per cent of students achieved grade five or above. Further mathematics recorded 81 per cent at that level, while business recorded 76 per cent.

Students prepare for their next steps

For most of the Year 11 pupils, the next stage will be a return to Spalding Grammar School in September to begin A Level studies. The school said it would continue supporting students as they move into the next phase of their education.

Mrs Anderson said the pupils had worked hard over the previous two years and credited their parents, carers and school staff for helping them achieve the results. She also said the examination season had provided practical experience that would benefit students in the future.

The school congratulated the Year 11 cohort and wished them well as they move towards their future plans.
