Dance-music fans in Spalding will have a new event to attend this weekend, with A Day of Dance launching at the Spalding Constitutional Club in Broad Street on Saturday, August 22.

The daytime-to-evening event will run from 2pm until 10pm, offering eight hours of dance and electronic music. Organisers say the programme will combine local talent with visiting performers, including Northampton-based DJ Percy Williams, who will play a set of 1980s remixes.

Live music and local DJs

The event will also feature The Jump Ups, described by organiser Shaun Neal as a brand-new four-piece group. The band will perform live house, drum and bass and garage music during the event.

The DJ line-up will include Shaun Neal, Loz J Yates, Samm & Rich Dee, Andy Woolsey and Jordan Elston, alongside Percy Williams. Neal, a local music figure, has curated the event as a new addition to Spalding’s entertainment calendar.

Neal said the idea had been several years in the making and was intended to bring an Ibiza-inspired daytime dance atmosphere to the town.

“It is a brand-new daytime dance event where will be bringing the feel of the Ibiza dance scene to Spalding,” said the DJ.
“It’s something I’ve wanted to create for several years – a summer daytime event featuring local talent alongside live music and a special guest DJ.”

Bars, barbecue and advance tickets

Three bars will serve drinks throughout the venue, while a barbecue will run throughout the day. The organisers say those additions are designed to give the event a summer festival feel as well as a full programme of music.

Neal said The Jump Ups had been booked before the group starts appearing at festivals and on cruise ships in the coming months.

“I’m fortunate to have secured them before they begin appearing at festivals and on cruise ships in the coming months.”

Advance tickets cost £12.50 and are available online through the event booking page. Residents planning to attend should note that the event is scheduled for the Spalding Constitutional Club, Broad Street, from 2pm to 10pm on Saturday, August 22.

Neal described the event as one aimed at people who enjoy dance and electronic music, with local performers, a guest DJ, live music, food and drinks included across the eight-hour programme.
