Repair work on the sinkhole affecting Enterprise Way has entered a further phase, with Anglian Water saying it has identified the cause of the continuing problem. The company is now repairing the damaged section of sewer and will carry out more surveys before the road can be reinstated.
Enterprise Way has been closed at its junction with Edison Court since late May. The closure followed the development of a sinkhole and an earlier repair that failed to resolve the underlying issue. Further work was then needed to try to deliver a permanent fix.
No date has been given for the road to reopen. Anglian Water is working with Lincolnshire County Council on the repairs, and the two organisations are described as confident that the agreed programme will resolve the problem.
Why the closure has continued
The initial repair did not solve the issue, leading to additional investigations and further work. Anglian Water says those investigations have now identified the cause of the ongoing problems at Enterprise Way.
The current work involves repairing the affected section of sewer rather than simply addressing the surface damage. Once that work is complete, surveys will be carried out before reinstatement takes place. This means the road closure will remain in place while the repair and checks continue.
Reopening remains dependent on the surveys
Although the latest update indicates progress towards a permanent solution, residents, businesses and road users have not been given a firm reopening date. The surveys and reinstatement work are still to be completed before access can return to the affected section.
An Anglian Water spokesman said: “Following further investigations, we believe we have identified the cause of the ongoing issues at Enterprise Way and have agreed a repair plan with Lincolnshire County Council. We are now repairing the affected section of sewer and will carry out further surveys before reinstatement, with both organisations confident the agreed works will resolve the issue. We understand the disruption this has caused and thank residents, businesses and road users for their patience while this work is completed.”
The latest update was published on August 26, 2026. Until the repair, surveys and reinstatement are finished, the closure at the Edison Court junction continues and the timing of the reopening remains uncertain.
