Players at Spalding Squash and Racketball Club are preparing for an overnight test of endurance as they take part in a sponsored racquet challenge for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The event is due to begin at 7pm on Friday, September 25, and continue throughout the night before ending at 7pm on Saturday. The source announcement identifies the day numbers as Friday (25) and Saturday; its publication date is September 23, 2026.
Players will keep the match going
Rather than one player remaining on court for the entire challenge, members of the club’s leading players will take turns keeping the action going. Together, they will aim to maintain the racquet activity for a full 24 hours.
The fundraiser has been organised by club member Scott Chuter. It is intended to test the players’ stamina while supporting Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity chosen because of its connection with the club.
“Macmillan supported one of our members and his family during an incredibly difficult time, so this is a cause that means a great deal to the club.
Chuter said the club wanted an event that would be demanding for those taking part and would encourage wider support.
“We wanted to take on a challenge that would really test us and give people a reason to get behind us,”
Public invited to support the fundraiser
Members of the public are welcome to visit the club during the challenge and support the players as they continue through the night. The event provides an opportunity for local people to show their backing in person while the club raises money for Macmillan.
