Spalding’s hopes of avoiding relegation from the Lincs Premier League Premier Division have ended despite a convincing seven-wicket win over bottom club Grantham.
The result was not enough because both of Spalding’s closest rivals also won their latest fixtures. That leaves Spalding 23 points adrift of safety.
Only one match remains
With just 20 points still available from Spalding’s final match of the season, the gap cannot be closed. The team therefore faces relegation from the Premier Division.
The win over Grantham provided a strong result on the day, but the simultaneous victories elsewhere meant it could not change Spalding’s position in the table.
