Spalding Ladies 1s continued their remarkable start to the new East Women’s Three North West season with a convincing 7-0 home victory over Wisbech 2s on September 30, 2026.
The result gave Spalding two emphatic wins from their opening two matches. They had begun the campaign with a 10-0 victory away against Cambridge Nomads before adding seven more goals against Wisbech.
Graves strikes four times
Laura Graves led the scoring with four goals, completing a player-of-the-match performance in which she scored in both halves. Karen Timby added two goals and Lauren Spenceley was also on target during a dominant first-half display.
Spalding needed only five minutes to take the lead. Graves collected a well-weighted through ball from Timby and finished the move. Four minutes later, she doubled the advantage after Honor Pearson’s persistent work helped create the opportunity.
Wisbech found it difficult to contain the home side’s attacks and conceded a penalty corner in the 16th minute. Timby converted to make it 3-0, then scored again after receiving a long pass from Evie Maltby.
The hosts continued to create chances, although some opportunities went unfinished. They nevertheless added two further goals before the interval. Graves completed her hat-trick with a neat finish, while Spenceley then added her name to the scoresheet.
Graves completed the scoring with the only goal of the second half. She showed close control in the D before finding the net for her fourth goal of the afternoon.
Defender Holly Gleave shared the player-of-the-match award after helping Spalding maintain their clean sheet and ensuring Wisbech could not turn any of their chances into goals.
Second team also wins without conceding
Spalding Ladies 2s made it a double success for the club by beating St Ives 4s 4-0 in Division 4NW. Sam Foston and Vicky Worrall scored twice each as the second team secured a comfortable victory.
Spalding started quickly and took the lead after seven minutes. Kelly Tizzano played an accurate ball through to Foston, who fired home.
The second goal followed when Jess Worth passed to Worrall, who finished the move. Spalding continued to control the match after half-time, and Worrall scored again from a short corner in the 52nd minute. Her performance earned her the player-of-the-match award.
The home side kept pressing until the final whistle. Foston completed her double in the 68th minute, scoring from another short corner to confirm a second clean-sheet win for Spalding’s teams.
