Four teams remain unbeaten after the second round of fixtures in Division One of the Spalding & District League. Consti G, Services A, Pyramid F and Consti H all followed opening-week victories with another win, while the latest results also established early leaders and unbeaten sides in Divisions Two and Three.

Consti G win meeting of opening-week winners

Consti G produced a 5-1 victory over Boundary A in a match between two teams that had both won their opening fixtures. Neil Grant, Martin Deacon and Nathan Wilson secured the first three frames for the hosts, although Wilson had to use the black ball to defeat Tim Burrows 39-37.

Boundary A reduced the deficit when Steve Smith won a black-ball frame. The final pairing also went to the black ball, but Mark Wilkinson completed the Consti G success. Wilkinson made a break of 28 during his win.

Services A also made it two victories from two by winning 4-2 away at Holbeach D. Vince Fitter, Phil Spencer and Chris Dunmore won the opening three games to put the visitors in control. Spencer recorded a 38 break. Holbeach responded through Callum Scott and Denis Hix, who each won a black-ball game, but Services A held on for the overall victory.

Pyramid F beat Gosberton A 4-2 in a match that changed direction several times. Ian Gibson put the visitors ahead before Adam Twigg levelled for Gosberton. Ian Clare restored Pyramid F’s advantage, only for Andy Adair to make it 2-2. Oli Player then won the deciding frame to give Pyramid F its second victory and leave Gosberton A with a second defeat.

Consti H completed the group of unbeaten Division One teams with a 4-2 away win at Holbeach E. The match included black-ball wins for both sides before the visitors settled the result in the final frame. Doug Garfoot beat James Crampton 64-57 on a re-spotted black. Seb Grimston and Mark German also won for Consti H, while Richard Parkes and Phil Coaten supplied Holbeach E’s points.

Donington C and Pyramid D record away wins

Donington C won 4-2 at Holbeach B after a particularly close opening frame. Neil Favell beat Neil Harvey 53-52 on a re-spotted black, before Pete Mullane put Donington further ahead. Neil Reynolds then made the result safe by beating his opponent 67-63. Reynolds produced a 23 break and a 27 clearance during that frame.

Holbeach B did claim two points in the contest. Garry Cooke pulled one frame back, while Don Monk won another after a further re-spotted-black finish. The result gave Donington C an away win and left Holbeach B with a second defeat of the season.

Pyramid D also won 5-1 away from home against Services D. Joely Shears won the opening frame for the hosts, but the visitors responded through James Sharpe, Raj Vanteru, Josh Agger and Pete Sharpe-Grose. Sharpe made a 39 break. The other Division One result saw Pyramid A beat Pyramid C 5-1.

Holbeach G lead Division Two

Holbeach G lead Division Two after recording a second consecutive 5-1 win, this time away to Whittlesey A. Jordan Ravenhill was central to the result, winning twice, including a black-ball game against Jason Clarke. Ben Harding added a win with a 22 break, and Ian Woodberry completed the scoring for Holbeach G. Andy Blythe won Whittlesey A’s point after briefly bringing the home side level.

Pyramid E matched Holbeach G’s score by beating Holbeach A 5-1. The winners were Steve Thompson, Neil McLean, Adrian Sharpe and Jeremy Radford. Mark Woods took Holbeach A’s point and also made a 33 break.

Services B made it two wins from two with a 4-2 victory over Holbeach F. Jason Rose beat Susan Lefley in a black-ball game and made a 38 break. David Lefley responded for Holbeach F, while Alan Hansard and Dan Mayfield traded further frames. Andy Neal then completed the Services B win by beating Alex Bourne 78-2, with a 22 break helping his performance.

Gosberton D made its first appearance of the season in emphatic fashion, beating Pyramid B 6-0. Lynn Simmons, Neil Simmons, Keith Langley and Paolo Gensiorskys won the first four frames, with Gensiorskys making a 23 break. James Parrott completed the whitewash by beating Carl Kelham 52-45 on a re-spotted black.

Services C secured its first win by beating Boundary B 4-2. Nigel Cherry won the deciding final frame, with Geoff Hemsil and Kev Fitter also winning for the visitors. Rich Wilson and Dougy Lythgoe scored Boundary B’s frames, and Lythgoe made a 23 break.

Gosberton B also collected its first victory, beating Consti F 4-2 after recovering from 2-1 down. Jack Chilvers made a 23 break in the opening frame he won. Simon Slinger levelled for Consti F, and Robert Adams then beat Mark Howlett 56-55 in a black-ball game. Consti F needed one of the final two frames to secure the match, but Mark Payne and Stu Ruskin won them for Gosberton B.

Consti J unbeaten in Division Three

Consti J remain unbeaten in Division Three after beating Donington B 5-1. Gavin Hallgarth, Trev Braybrook, Adam Braybrook and Stewart Davies won for Consti J, while Phil Burrell took Donington B’s frame in a black-ball game.

Consti I won 4-2 at Donington A. Pete Stokes, John Bellerby and David Twelves made the points safe for the visitors before Ryan Hobbs and Tony Scully responded for Donington. Scully made a 22 break, matching Stokes’ earlier break.

Bourne SC recovered from two frames down to beat Consti D 4-2. Geoff Ellingworth and Tom Digby won black-ball games for Consti D, but Maurice Power, Matt Bennett and Daryl Mawhinney turned the match around for Bourne, with the visitors also taking the deciding frame.

Consti C beat Gosberton C 4-2. Karl Gray initially put Gosberton ahead, and Shaun Dewing levelled after Dave Banister and Terry George had turned the match in Consti C’s favour. Mark Gray then won the deciding frame for the hosts.

Donington D beat Whittlesey B 4-2 after trailing twice. Andy Skutela and Pawel Skutela won frames for Whittlesey, but Dan Taylor, Dan Sawdy and Geoff Harris completed the Donington recovery. The match between Consti A and Consti B was postponed.

The second round has therefore preserved early unbeaten records in all three divisions, with the reported results showing Consti G, Services A, Pyramid F and Consti H unbeaten in Division One, Holbeach G setting the pace in Division Two and Consti J unbeaten in Division Three.
