The first finals of the Spalding Darts League season have been decided after an evening of closely fought semi-finals, including two matches settled by a single game and one team progressing after its opponents could not field a side.
Lincoln Arms A produced the most emphatic result of the night in the Supreme Cup, beating Royal Mail Cart 8-1 to book its place in the final. The Lincoln took an early 2-0 lead, but Royal Mail Cart claimed the third pairs game through Jacob Herd and Ash Allen.
That proved to be the Mail Cart’s only game of the match. Lincoln Arms A dropped just five more legs, with Steve Stancer and Jake Merrill each recording a 180 in their wins. Josh Faulkner also hit a 114 check-out for Royal Mail Cart.
Lincoln Arms A to meet Consti A
Lincoln Arms A will face Consti A in the Supreme Cup final. Consti A also won its semi-final 8-1, defeating Ye Olde Abbey after taking the first seven games in a row.
Dean Parker eventually got Ye Olde Abbey on the scoreboard, while Consti A’s Sam Roberts recorded a 101 check-out during his victory. The result sets up a final between two teams that both secured comfortable semi-final wins.
Division 2 finals decided by tight finishes
The Division 2 Dick Morgan Cup produced two 5-4 semi-final results. Riverside B beat Mulberrys after building a 2-1 advantage following the pairs game and extending it to 3-1 through Daz Norton.
Sonia Kwaterowska’s win kept Mulberrys in contention, but Chris Taylor restored Riverside’s two-game advantage by defeating Nathan Sage. Mulberrys continued its fightback when Wigs Harrison made it 4-3.
The decisive win came from Josh Higgins, who put Riverside B through to the final. His match included a 180 from Reece Winkley, along with 102 and 100 check-outs.
Riverside B will play Consti E, which edged past Holbeach Services A in another 5-4 semi-final. Consti E led 2-1 before Danny Goddard and Chris Chamberlain helped Holbeach move 3-2 ahead.
Consti then fought back through wins for Dan Gent and Mark Dixon. Chris Blakey levelled the match at 4-4 for Holbeach, leaving a final-game decider. Craig Woods held his nerve for Consti E and won his singles match with a 110 check-out to secure the final place.
A rearranged Division 2 match also saw Riverside A beat Five Bells 5-4. Jonny Pell hit a 119 check-out in that match.
Pinchbeck FC C reaches Division 3 final
In the Division 3 Kelly Foster Cup, Riverside C went through to the final after Punchbowl was unable to field a team.
The other semi-final was won 8-1 by Pinchbeck FC C against Moulton Harrox. The teams were both near the top of the table, suggesting a close contest, but Pinchbeck moved through the match with Dan Wright the only winner for Harrox. Wright also hit a 180.
Pinchbeck FC C and Moulton Harrox then played a rearranged league match, with Pinchbeck winning again, although this time by the narrower score of 5-4. Pinchbeck led 2-1 after the pairs game, followed by singles wins for Liam Dawson, Gary Coomes and Ricky Dickinson.
Ash Brown hit a 100 check-out in the pairs for Pinchbeck, while Tony Vickovic recorded a 180 in his game. Pinchbeck FC C’s progression means Riverside C and Pinchbeck will contest the Division 3 final.
