Drivers using Knipe Avenue in Spalding have been warned to expect delays while the road undergoes repairs and resurfacing costing about £60,000.
The first repairs are scheduled for Monday to Wednesday, August 24 to 25, according to the report. Further surfacing work is planned for Wednesday, September 2, and Friday, September 5. The source also refers to post-jointing work on a Tuesday in September, but does not give the date.
What drivers can expect
Lincolnshire County Council says a signed diversion will be in place during the works. One lane of the carriageway is expected to remain open, although this may change if the construction requires deeper excavation.
The council warned that parts of Knipe Avenue may need to close fully for short periods. Sections could also remain fenced off while newly laid material cures, allowing the repairs to reach full strength before vehicles travel over them.
“Deep excavations may require short periods of full closure, and brief delays should be expected.”
Residents and road users are therefore being advised to allow extra time for journeys and follow signs around the work area. The report does not specify the diversion route.
Expected benefits for Knipe Avenue
Coun David East, Lincolnshire County Council’s executive member for Highways and Transport, said the investment should improve the road for people who live nearby and use it regularly.
Once the project is complete, road users are expected to see a smoother ride, improved skid resistance and less traffic noise. The work is also intended to extend the road’s life and support the longer-term condition of Spalding’s local road network.
“Once completed, road users can expect improved ride quality, better skid resistance and a reduction in traffic noise.”
The council said it would work to complete the project quickly and minimise disruption, while thanking those affected for their patience and understanding.
