Holbeach United earned a point on the road after Jordan Oldham scored in a 1-1 draw against Dussindale Rovers in Division One North of the Eastern Counties League.

The result offered some encouragement after a difficult midweek evening at home to Whittlesey Athletic, although the Tigers will still be disappointed with how that match ended. Whittlesey led 2-0 at half-time before Holbeach fought back to level through Rabab Ali and Flynn Hyde.

With the home side back in contention for victory, Whittlesey responded by scoring twice more to complete a 4-2 win. The match attendance was 31.

Free food and drink for Saturday supporters

Holbeach are back in home action on Saturday when they host Needham Market Reserves. Kick-off is scheduled for 3pm.

The club is offering an incentive to early arrivals: the first 150 people through the gates will receive a free pint and pie. The offer gives supporters an additional reason to arrive early for the Tigers’ next Division One North fixture.

Recent team line-ups

Against Whittlesey, Holbeach’s starting line-up was Sellars, Barrow, Ibeneme, Hoyle, Williams, Oldham, Touaiti, Hyde, Kacirek, Ali and Ahamed. Bodibe replaced Williams, Coelho came on for Hyde and Chouchane replaced Kacirek.

The team selected at Dussindale was Sellars, Bodibe, Ibeneme, Hoyle, Williams, Oldham, Touaiti, Hyde, Kacirek, Chouchane and Wurie. Grimwood replaced Ibeneme, Kotloczki came on for Hyde and Coelho replaced Chouchane. Wilkshire and Akyüz were listed among the substitutes.

Oldham’s goal secured a share of the points at Dussindale, while the earlier defeat means Holbeach will be looking to respond in front of their home supporters against Needham Market Reserves.
