Consti have strengthened their position at the top of the Spalding and District Billiards League, opening an eight-point advantage over second-placed Donington B after beating Broadway 7-0.

The result gave Consti a maximum-points victory in the latest round of fixtures. Donington B nevertheless moved into second place, despite losing 5-2 away to Gosberton A. Their rise in the standings followed the cancellation of two games during the week.

Johnson starts Consti’s winning night

Mick Johnson set Consti on their way with a decisive 200-56 success against Gary Norman. Johnson produced breaks of 34, 32 and 23 during the match, while Norman’s best contribution was a 52 break. Norman also made breaks of 23, 22 and 20.

Alan Hansard added another win for the league leaders, beating Andy Wheatley 200-186. It was Hansard’s third victory of the season.

Stewart Davies completed the reported Consti wins by defeating Paul Collicchio. Davies remains unbeaten, adding to Consti’s commanding team result against Broadway.

Gosberton take points against Donington

Gosberton A’s 5-2 victory over Donington B included a contest between the teams’ captains. Neil Reynolds beat Marcus Pell 200-136 and recorded the highest break of the week, a 56. Reynolds also made breaks of 40, 37 and 22.

Shane White then levelled the match for Gosberton with a 16-point win over Neil Burton. White’s result helped put Gosberton in position to secure the overall match victory.

Des Forbes supplied the decisive contribution for Gosberton, overcoming Mick Pearl. Forbes produced his best game of the season, making breaks of 24, 23 and 21.

Pyramid B win local derby

The other fixture reported in the latest round was a local derby between Pyramid A and Pyramid B. Pyramid B took the match 5-2.

Maurice Phillipson and Darrell Read recorded wins for Pyramid B against John Clapton and John Twell respectively. Neil McLean claimed two points for Pyramid A by beating Phil Cooke 200-180.

Delayed Gosberton fixture also goes their way

Gosberton A also won a delayed match against Services, taking the fixture 4-3 after the teams played a day late the previous week.

Services made the faster start through Vince Fitter, who beat Marcus Pell and recorded breaks of 42 and 36. Gosberton responded through Shane White, who defeated Chris Dunmore by 16 points. White made breaks of 31, 24 and 20 in that match.

Des Forbes then settled the contest with a close 200-193 win over Nigel Cherry, giving Gosberton the overall victory.
