Students at Bourne Academy Sixth Form are celebrating a strong set of 2026 examination results, with a record number of candidates taking exams as the sixth form continues to grow and attract students from secondary schools across the region.
The SLAT Sixth Form reported a 99% pass rate across all exams. Almost half of the A-level and BTEC qualifications achieved were equivalent to grades A* to A, while 99% of students achieved the results required for their chosen university.
Strong results across academic subjects
A-level performance remained high, with 40% of all A-level results graded A* to B. French was among the strongest-performing subjects, with 80% of students achieving grades A* to B. In English Language, 56% achieved grades A* to B.
The sixth form offers three study routes: A-levels only, BTECs only, or a combination of the two. The school says the flexibility of this “mix and match” approach gives students a wider choice of subjects and supports applications for university places.
Vocational students also celebrate
BTEC students recorded particularly strong results. Some 72% of BTEC grades were at Distinction* to Distinction level, equivalent to A* or A at A-level. Overall, 98% of BTEC grades were between Distinction* and Merit, equivalent to grades A* to C at A-level.
Health & Social Care students achieved an 89% rate of Distinction* to Distinction grades. The corresponding figures were 86% for Travel & Tourism and 83% for Performing Arts.
Mrs Jemma Curson, chief executive officer at South Lincolnshire Academies Trust, said: “We are immensely proud to have been able to celebrate another outstanding set of A-level and BTEC grades. To consistently achieve top results as our Sixth Form grows significantly is just incredible. It has been wonderful to see the successes of our students today as their hard work and dedication in Sixth Form has been rewarded. I would like to thank the Sixth Form team and teaching staff for all of their advice, guidance and outstanding teaching that students have received throughout their Sixth Form journey.”
University, apprenticeship and career destinations
Miss Katie Belcher, headteacher at Bourne Academy, said 99% of students had secured their chosen university or apprenticeship offers. Destinations include Law at the University of Bristol, Mental Health Nursing at King’s College London, Architecture at Loughborough University, Music at LIPA, Electrical & Electronic Engineering at the University of Nottingham, Equine Performance & Rehabilitation at Hartpury University and Medicine at Newcastle University.
Students have also secured degree apprenticeships with organisations including Perkins, Greencore, Peterborough United Football Club, Hays Travel and the Royal Air Force.
